About XquaDrones
Learn about our company, our mission, and the team behind XquaDrones S.A.S.
Our Story
The idea for XquaDrones S.A.S. arises from a specific need within the Colombian regulatory context: compliance with the demanding requirements established by the Colombian Aeronautical Regulations (RAC 100) for drone operations. In practice, these requirements make it difficult for a certified UAS Pilot, acting as a natural person, to conduct legal flights on their own.
Faced with this reality, a multidisciplinary group decided to create a company that, once certified by Aerocivil as a UAS Operator, could facilitate regulatory compliance and allow UAS Pilots to perform flight missions in the specific category in a legal, structured, and safe manner.
The proposed model is similar to collaborative platforms like Uber, where a company handles the most complex regulatory aspects and connects independent professionals with service users. In this case, XquaDrones S.A.S. assumes responsibility for aerial operations before the authority, manages required permits and insurance, and provides a technological platform that articulates the relationship between clients and certified UAS Pilots. This solution also allows UAS Pilots themselves to request missions on their own initiative (motu proprio), leveraging the company's operational and legal capabilities.
Functional Units
Technology Area
The Technology Area is primarily responsible for developing and managing XquaDrones S.A.S.'s technological platform, including databases and software for both backend and mobile applications. It will also approve modifications requested on the website for all resources interacting with stored information to maintain data security. In developing cooperation alliances with third parties, the Technology Area will handle integrations to automate processes through API development for information transmission.
Management Area
The Management Area's responsibilities include verifying documentation for both affiliates and clients registering on the platform. This includes periodic review of UAS Pilot certifications to ensure they remain up-to-date and compliant with current regulations. The Management Area will also handle technical and regulatory support, training, and promotion of the company's policies on Operational Safety.
Legal and Regulatory Area
The Legal and Regulatory Area will monitor national and international regulations to prepare the company for all challenges in aeronautical regulations (especially regarding the Colombian Aeronautical Regulations). It will be responsible for keeping the internal regulations and affiliate acceptance filters up-to-date, as well as all direct or indirect communication with insurers and Aerocivil.
Administrative and Financial Area
The Administrative and Financial Area will handle accounting management and invoicing. It will control payments to suppliers and any applicable commissions. It will also manage financial planning and prepare results reports, future projections, and business plans when the company's board of partners meets.
Aerial Operations and Finished Products Area
The functions of the Aerial Operations and Finished Products Area include coordination between UAS Pilots, Aerocivil, and Clients, with necessary field logistical support to complete flight missions. They will supervise technical and regulatory compliance on-site and post-mission analysis of data obtained, including final pilot reports, client evaluations, and incident/accident reports.
